Yep, Tasting Room of Louisiana is right across the street. Had lunch there once, and it looked like a potential alternative watering hole to the Bentley's basement bar (which I like).

TRL site says: "Opened by Louisiana's first Whisk(e)y Sommelier and located in downtown Alexandria, the Tasting Room of Louisiana has the largest whiskey selection in the area, a wide variety of local beers, an always growing wine list, and an extensive craft cocktail menu. Be sure to check out the TRoLA Kitchen, which specializes in Charcuterie, Bacon-wrapped appetizers, and specialty dishes!"

I’ve never stayed there but I’ve eaten at The Bentley Room several times.
Bar called Mirror Room isn’t bad.
Tasting Room is across the street.

We just stayed there a couple months ago. Several rooms. Once a beautiful hotel that is a shadow of its former self (much like the city in which it resides). Whole hotel but especially the rooms need serious updating and the service is not good.

The room I was in had been updated and was very clean. The service wasn't bad. I did have to wait at the front desk for about 15 minutes to check in but other than that they were attentive. The homeless guy that was hanging out by the back door the Friday morning I checked out was congenial and appreciative for the protean bars I gave him for breakfast.

The Tasting Room looked interesting. I will check it out the next time I am up here.

You had a very different experience and I didn't say anything about cleanliness. Our rooms were clean but they were from the 70s. We stayed in a larger room. It had a couch, a couple a chairs and a bar but the whole room including the furniture was really dated. Also, we were on multiple floors and the hallways on all the floors I visited were very poorly lit....almost cave like.

In addition to all of this, they were having a wedding in the middle of the lobby so they actually closed the entire front of the hotel. We had to schlep our bags around the side and up a couple sets of stairs to get to the front desk to check in . The front desk was tiny and still had Plexi glass in front so I felt like I was at a bodega in the hood.

We had an engagement party at another location so we went down to the bar to have drink and meet up before we took off and the bartender was not happy about waiting on us. It was like we were intruding. If it were me, I would have been happy about the tips. In short he was a dick.

Sorry that sounds rough. I definitely had a better expirence and the bartender at the Mirror Room Lounge was attentive but I was with two of my younger attractive female co-workers.

That does always seem to make a difference.

Was there for a wedding last year. We enjoyed our stay. Rooms were nice but nothing special. The Bentley Room restaurant in the basement was pretty good. We also enjoyed the Mirror Lounge in the basement. The Diamond Grill down the street was excellent. Downtown Alex is a ghost town once sunsets.
