I founf out recently I have some time to go to Southeast Asia.
I could go Dec. 15- Jan 15 (during peak season) but I have literally nothing planned out.
Or i could wait and go this summer (not peak season).
TIA. I want to book my flight by Monday at the latest.

Summer is monsoon season. Between May and October humidity is pushing 200% with temps over 90 daily and low 80s nightly, plus torrential downpours and flooding.
There's a reason peak tourist season is the winter
And of course northern Thailand differs than the islands of the south, so it really all depends on what you'll be doing and where you'll be going.

You can go a little later to around March I think for Gulf of Thailand side islands. This also gets you close to the Songkran water festival which is in mid April. Any later you hit the monsoon as stated.
Are you a teacher/student because the dates seem like it.

On the end of a 17 day Thailand trip, go now
Four weeks would be too long for me

We went in Late May/Early June and it was fine. No hotter than LA, TX and it didnt rain much and is much cheaper than in the winter with all the Euros/Russians
Phuket, Krabi area has a bunch of rain that time of year but Ko Samui, Ko Tao in the gulf of Thailand is much drier even though it is close to Phuket.
Also, flight prices do not change until the day before the flight so you can have multiple plans and choose based on weather.

Flight prices within SE Asia do not change until the day before from my experience. Check out googleflights

I went last summer. It is brutally humid there in summer.
I mean, I felt like I needed to shower 3 or 4 times a day.
