Flying into Chicago tomorrow. Looks like southwest flies into terminal 5. It doesn’t seem to be connected to the rest of the airport. Meeting family flying in from west coast. So question is, how do I get from terminal 5 baggage claim to terminal 3 baggage claim? Can you take the train after clearing security or do I need to take the bus system?

When I was there in December, the train was closed and you had to take shuttle busses. Not sure if it’s open again.

Train is pretty simple from both airports.
not sure about the latest on what the above poster said...just look into it. They are great on updating all of that info.

Trains may still be closed due to construction but they will have shuttle buses that take you where you want to go.
I fly SWA all of the time. I’m coming into MDW from here on out. O’Hare really sucked.

I rode the airport tram in March or April. Can't confirm if it goes to t5 but t2/3 stops are wide open and working.
Keep in mind there are three "trains" of various nature at O'Hare. The airport tram, the CTA blue line subway to downtown (useful, traffic is awful on that highway) and the Metra regional commuter train to the suburbs and downtown (useless, something like 4x/day, have to ride the tram to the rental car garage and catch Metra there).
