Because you can't read. 10+ people in wheelchairs have preboarded on every SWA flight out of Hobby I've been on, but run off the plane when it lands.
And it effects you in absolutely zero ways.
The SW pre-board gripe is one of the meaningless complaints out there perpetuated by group think with very few application of any sort of travel inconvenience other than people just don't like someone being ahead of them, even if it doesn't impact their travel time or experience in any significant manner.
If you're a solo traveler and checked in the day before, you're going to get an aisle or window seat and you'll ave overhead storage. If you're traveling in a group of 3+, pay for early bird and you'll be fine.
All this griping for what may amount to boarding and exiting the plane a little later (which is negated anyway if you check a bag) is a dramatic overreaction.

worrying about the boarding process that was totally fine for 90% of passengers
From Southwest's press release announcing the changes
quote:
The research is clear and indicates that 80% of Southwest Customers, and 86% of potential Customers, prefer an assigned seat. When a Customer elects to stop flying with Southwest and chooses a competitor, open seating is cited as the number one reason for the change. By moving to an assigned seating model, Southwest expects to broaden its appeal and attract more flying from its current and future Customers.

Seat assignment and boarding process are not the Same thing. Southwest has unquestionably the smoothest boarding process domestic air travel, and it will Continue to operate much in the same manner. Boarding group assignments will Certainly change based on seat assignment

Our boarding process will be similar to what it is today—we will board in order, preserving our fast boarding process to get Travelers on their way as quickly as possible

Ok, so why are yall bitching? If the "boarding process" is what you like, then that remains.
This rewards frequent flyers, who should be, and punishes those scamming the system.
Its going to be hilarious when SW amount of pre-boarders soon reflects that of United's, which is nearly 0.

I’m not bitching at all. I don’t have a problem with offering a fare that comes with a seat assignment and giving travelers the option to pay for an assigned seat or not.
