I know VABuckeye and HGG have been But wife and I are looking at going to Holbox after Christmas
Hotel suggestions would be great. Wife wants something fancy but I can talk her down to “fairly fancy”
TIA

We stayed at Hotel La Palapa. It was ok. Be forewarned. On Holbox they'll take a credit card for the room but all the incidentals at La Palapa had to be paid in cash.
When I go back again I'll probably stay at Hotel Casa Las Tortugas. It's on a perfect spot on the beach and has several restaurants. I do not know their policy on incidentals and meals.
There are a lot of good restaurants on Holbox to choose from so eating well isn't an issue.
I'm not sure what your wife means by luxury. These are island hotels and won't compare to the Ritz in any way. There are quite a few small boutique hotels that look interesting.

We stayed at Na Balam in Isla last summer. As much as she enjoyed it, she wants a step up from that
We were looking at Hotel Casa Las Tortugas as well

If she really wants to be pampered you might want to check out some of the boutique hotels. It's just not that kind of place. Next time on Isla stay at Hotel Secreto. They will take care of you.

Casa Las Tortugas is quite nice and right next to the best restaurant on the island: Luuma.
Take kite surfing lessons together, it’s one of the most popular places to do so.

We’ve visit Holbox every year and it’s one of our favorite places if your looking to just kick back and relax. Hardest decision we make every day is what do I want to eat and what I want to drink.
Casa Las Tortugas is the only way to go. Centrally located on the island, right on the beach a just a few steps from the ocean. The staff will absolutely do anything to ensure your are taken care of. Breakfast is included every morning and the restaurant on the premises is very very good but expensive compared most places on the island.
Nigh life is centered around the town square which is only a few blocks from the hotel. There are a ton of locally owned restaurants that serve some pretty amazing food. Travel around the island is either walking, on bicycle or by golf cart and can be rented pretty cheaply. Don’t count on any consistent wifi anywhere other than your hotel.
Highly recommend a private shuttle from Cancun to Chiquita to catch the ferry over to Holbox. It’s a 2 hr ride and goes through some very sketchy areas with zero cell phone service. Highly suggest currency conversion before you get to island because Peso’s are king and ATM’s are unreliable most times.

So casa las tortugas is all booked up for the week we were looking at.
Hotel Palapas del Sol appears near it. Do you know anything about that place?

Are you stuck on Holbox? Nevis has a Four Seasons that is phenomenal.

Holbox has several nice houses that you can rent out. Try some of those.
