Was looking at the Southwest stops map while in-flight yesterday and realized how many great spots they have in the Caribbean! Thinking of doing a trip before our companion pass runs out in Dec '19 and looking for suggestions. What's the board's take on a great spot with the classic white-sand beaches, clear water, all while trying to keep the lodging under $300/night (not looking at all-inclusive resorts)? Initial thoughts are either Aruba or Turks & Caicos based on very light research

Planning a trip to Cabo and Andaz Costa Rica Resort at Peninsula Papagayo. Maybe Aruba and Puerto Rico before December next year.

I enjoyed a trip to Costa Rica earlier this year (Jaco), but forewarning that the Pacific side has colder waters and volcanic sand. Beautiful country for sure, and it looks like the Peninsula Papagayo will be very accessible with Southwest's Liberia flight

I've been to T&C and it has some of the best white sand beaches and clear water in the world.

Aruba is an interesting spot to try as well, but, have not been yet.

Aruba has the best beaches, but it's very developed. I'd look at Belize.

We LOVED Aruba and will go back soon. From Houston, an easy little flight over to Orlando and an easy flight to Aruba from there. Plenty of great food and drinks and the beaches are fantastic.

We're did y'all stay in Aruba? Looking at weighing the lodging price tags as a factor.

TIA!

We stayed at Barcelo. It was relatively cheap. The rooms are nice/clean, the restaurants are pretty good and the pool/beach are first class. The mixed drinks they use cheap alcohol which was pretty nasty, but all you have to do is ask them to use whatever you like!
