I've got a free cruise offer for either of these two lines. I've cruised with RC before, but never on Celebrity. Which is the better of the two? BTW, I've never been on a Carnival cruise either, but I don't need anyone to warn me about them. I'm up to date on just how shitty they are.

I've never done Royal Caribbean but have gone with Celebrity 3 times. Have also done Norwegian and Carnival. Celebrity fits what I want very well. Not a lot of kids or young partiers. Mostly couples in their 30's to 60's; so not too young or too old. Reasonably upscale but not too expensive. Good food. They would be my first pick, even if my experience is a bit limited.

They're sister companies and I would say are similar but different.

If I had not been to many of the popular cruise ports, was sailing with kids and had the opportunity to sail one of the larger, newer ships (Oasis class, Quantam Class, Freedome or Voyager Class), I would probably go Royal. If it was just the wife and I and the amout of activities on the ship (flowrider, sky pad, water slides, etc) wasn't as important, I might skew towards Celebrity.

Do you have a money limit you can spend? Can you pick your departure port?

For me, the decision would probably come down more to ship and itinerary than actual cruise line.

If I could sail Royal to the southern Caribbean on an 8 night for the same as a 5 night to the Western Caribbean on Celebyity, I would sail RC.

RC is not what it once was but it's still a quality product and even just the wife and I still love the big mega ships with tons to do but we're giant kids and still act like we're 25 sometimes.

Just got off a test cruise on Mariner of the Seas and it was awesome to basically have the ship to ourselves...hit the flowrider every, single, day...LOL

Thanks. Just to clarify, this is a pretty sweet deal. Just about any port either sails out of of, including Europe. I've been on Oasis and Allure, and I familiar with the type of people/ages of their clientele. I don't want to get into a situation with a ship full of 75 y/o or the other end of the spectrum (Disney cruises have absolutely no appeal to me).

As for the itinerary, we are offered everything from a short 3 day cruise all the way up to 8 days. We don't care about rock walls or surfing rides. Celebrity is giving us something called a "Sky Suite". RC doesn't specify.

Celebrity. If you get a suite, you’ll have access to a private area of the deck, a private lounge, and a private restaurant on any Edge class or refurbished ship in the Millenium or Solstice Class.

Thanks! I was just on their site. Hopefully I can take advantage of a Greece/Croatia cruise on an Edge-class. Now I have to worry about these damn COVID restrictions!
