Real ID for travel

I saw online that in Oct. 2020 everyone will have to have a Real ID for domestic travel. The info goes on to say that your ID must have a black or gold star to be compliant. I'm in Mississippi and several sources are saying MS's IDs are compliant, however mine doesn't have the star. I renewed it in 4/17. Sweet Baby Jesus I can't take another whole day off to do the f'ing DMV. Please clarify.
