Brunello is a fantastic wine but Barolo and Sassicaia would like a word about being the best wine in Italy. 8-)

OP says he’ll be coming from Florence. Montalcino is closer to Florence than Piedmont but no doubt any wine connoisseur would consider Barolos elite of the two. Throwing barrel aging and region aside both are very similar and better than anything found in Chianti region.

Agreed. But he can also do a day trip to Bolgheri for some incredible Super tuscans. Cheers!!

Agreed. The reason I brought it up though was to say its a really bad idea to drive after drinking in Italy. Its fast and aggressive. I love it though.

Yes the drivers here are definitely aggressive. But in as polite a way as possible. I’ve had no issues really.
But you’re right, obviously you can’t get hammered. So that’s a consideration.

I agree with you about drinking and driving. Fortunately for me, my wife isn't a drinker so a) I always have a DD when doing wine tastings and b) I don't have to share the wine that I have shipped back with her.
