We’re staying in Lagos in early June for 3 nights (traveling from Seville to Lisbon) with our two kids (ages 5 and 11). We’d love to spend time on the beaches, do some kayaking, and just soak in the coast.
Of course, Benagil Cave looks incredible – but we’re wondering if it’s worth doing a kayak tour there, given it’s a 40-minute cab ride from Lagos. Would that be too much of a hassle with the kids? Or would it make more sense to kayak locally around Ponta da Piedade, which is much closer to where we’re staying?
We’re also considering doing a boat trip to see Benagil instead, and saving the paddling for Lagos. Has anyone done both and can compare?
Open to other activity recommendations too – especially anything fun and low-stress with young kids.

They've changed the rules on kayaking in the caves. You may have to take a kayak tour to access the caves and I'm not sure if you can even get out on the shore so you may want to consider the boat ride and kayak on your own. Check out Carvalho Beach next door. The beaches and hikes along the coast are fantastic. Note, though, you'll feel like you're in Great Britain at times.
