re: October Trip to the Mountains - Short

I did Estes Park a few years ago in the middle of October. Very cool town and perfect access to RMNP. The weather wasn’t bad yet but the wind was extreme at higher elevations. I was still able to make it to sky pond which is considered a pretty moderate hike with a tricky climbing section. Dream Lake and Emerald lake are very doable hikes. A giant snowstorm came in just as I left so I caught it at the right time but october can be very hit or miss if you want to hit the continental divide.
