North side of the lake or South Lake Tahoe?
I assume South Lake Tahoe. Proximity depends on what you’re trying to be close to. You could stay around the casinos and be in close proximity to lot of things. Or you could stay a little further west toward Tahoe Harbor and be close to lots of shops and restaurants.

More interested in the shops and restaurants.

The Landing on the South Shore is on the state line and near the golf course. Walkable to Heavenly the resort with all the shops there. Went an e-bike and ride the South shore around to all the beaches and locations.
