Los Suenos is very nice. I spent 4+ months in that area in 2021. The Maverick charter company is great for bill fishing (LSU guy owns it) and a day trip to Tortuga is awesome. It's a quick drive from San Jose (90 minutes) and has access to Manuel Antonio. There is also a hidden locals beach 10 minutes away that I can't remember what it's called. Jaco is nearby, it's touristy and not the best place but has excellent restaurants and bars. I recommend that area because I can leave Nola by 7 am and be in San Jose by noon and be at my hotel by 4 pm. I seriously recommend the early flights because Costa Rican immigration sets records for being slow, so if you arrive with the rush you will lose a couple of hours. Have fun.

We Airbnb it every year down near Manuel Antonio/Dominical. More fun that way. We book our own excursions, catamarans, etc. I’ve been doing it that way since 2013.
