Got a quick trip on the books next week with the wife and will be spending a day on the Isle. We didn't know this gem was there until last year and really thought it was cool. We plan on renting a golf cart again and just kinda winging it. Anybody else been recently and have any suggestions?

So you’ve already been there once or this will be your first time?

Isla. Isla Mujeres.
Have you stayed on Isla before?
If you're staying in Playa Norte you do not need a golf cart everyday unless riding around in a golf cart is what you're looking to do. Punta Sur is at the other end of the island and has some great walking trails down by the sea. On the way back you can hit The Joint and Soggy Peso.
Bastos is mid island and dinner there is fantastic. Closed on Thursday.

Garrafón Reef Park.
This is a cool little place to snorkel right off the beach.
You can rent snorkeling gear there and buy fish food....this to me is much better than going on an excursion to snorkel. they also have a food and beverages available. The beach is rocky, I recommend some type of water shoe.

They are getting a bit tougher on drinking and driving golf carts. Just take cabs. They are everywhere and cost less than 100 pesos no matter where you go. You can take 11 cabs for the cost of one day in a cart.

You can drink in a golf cart. Just don't be the driver of the cart and have an open container on you.
Slingin gave great advice about cabs. $5 one way anywhere on the island and you can arrange a return pickup time with your driver.

Go to the south end of the island and have a frozen mojito at The Joint...thank me later! :) Also, go to Soggy Peso and, if you dare, have a Margarita. Ruben's and North Garden, close to Playa Norte are to very good places to eat as well.
