Doing the Blue Lagoon and Northern Lights.
Any other recommendations to include places to eat and other excursions. Was thinking about snow mobiles.
Rent a car or no?

Hopefully the Blue Lagoon is open with all the Volcano activity.
Café Bryggjan in Grindavik is right on the water but I believe it is still closed. Food was good and had some neat historical photos on the walls.
We had a rental car as we did a 2 week driving tour around the island.

It's kind of unfortunate you only have 4 nights there. That place is absolutely stunning if youre into different landscapes. I went back in 2021 for 10 days, and that wasn't nearly enough to get the full experience.
They have rental campers all over the place. If I were to go back and only had 4 nights, I'd get one of those and make my way as far around the country as possible. There are tons of waterfalls and a few glaciers you should be able to get to from Reykjavik down the southern coast to Vik, which is a town I'd highly recommend. They have a stunning black sand beach there with basalt column cliffs. There isn't so much "to do" there, but rather so much to see. If you're a nature lover, you'll fall in love around every bend of the highway.
And bring waterproof pants. Trust me.

I would suggest going to the Sky Lagoon. While I have never been to the Blue Lagoon, the Sky Lagoon was extremely nice. From what I have heard from others it is less crowded and has less small children.
Personally I would rent a car that way you can visit a few of the famous waterfalls, drive the golden circle, and visit other places like the diamond beach or the black church on the North side of the island.
There is also this farm to table place (Friðheimar) that is tomato-based. It is delicious. I'd suggest sitting at the bar area, get you a nice cup of warm tomato soup with a tomato beer and fresh bread. The bar is inside of the green house, pretty neat.
