My GOD the last few days have been HORRIBLE traveling this direction. I am in school at FranU and left for class at 8:50 and didn't get there until 11:15.
Blocked off a sh*t-ton of traffic for a 6' x 12' piece of concrete being worked on. On the way home, from the Whiskey Bay exit to the beginning of the bridge, traffic was dead-stop bumper to bumper. Leaving BR was the same. Bumper to bumper until about the exit to Lafayette to the bridge.
Anyone know any shortcuts or less-traveled roads from Youngsville to BR (past LSU?)

Ive traveled this a lot and I almost always go north on I-49 to Opelousas and cut over on 190 and come across the Old Ms River bridge. It's definitely longer but the Basin Bridge is always such a crap shoot, especially now. At least if you go 190 you know it's going to be about a 1 hr 20 min drive but no more. Basin bridge could be an hour, could be 4 hours. Just not worth the risk in my opinion and in some ways I just can't stand not moving, however irrational that may seem.
