Any interesting bars/restaurants or unique places to visit on the island that you can suggest?

A lot of people hate HHI, but I love it. You just can't spend all your time at Harbortown or South Beach with every other visitor.
It's touristy, so most of the restaurants are just fine. The best seafood we've found is one of those little paper plate places called The Sea Shack. Fried seafood, stand in line outside, get your own drink place.
Fish Haul Creek and Dolphin Head are off the path a little.
If you go to Daufuskie, do yourself a favor and get a golf cart while you're there.

Skull Creek Boathouse is a must every time we visit. Great fun place with pretty sunset view and good food

I live in the HHI area.
Skull creek boathouse and dockside are two cool places on the water. The quarterdeck in harbor town is a classic, as well as Salty Dog Cafe also located in Sea Pines.
I don’t know about the bars on HHI as much as the town I live in (Bluffton), but Fishcamp and Poseidon are two I’ve been to. I’ve also gone one night to a show at the Jazz Corner which was a lot of fun (went to a Fat Tuesday show).
It’s a 25-30 min drive, but Old Town Bluffton as a cool, quaint Low Country town by the river of you want a different vibe. If you don’t mind going a little further, Palmetto Bluff (and the Montage Hotel) is some of the most beautiful grounds I’ve seen for this area.
Happy to help with any questions.

The group I was trying to help out did end up going to Skull Creek Boathouse and very much enjoyed it. They had a good trip and the people they came across were all very nice.
The food at all of the places they visited was just ok though.
New Orleans spoils people.
