I'm not sure if it works the same at Glacier, but for the Arches NP timed entry, the attendant said you could arrive after your time, just not before. Maybe call and ask to see what Glacier's rules are.

The timed entry to the Sun Road is from 11am-1p. Assuming we leave the kayak rental place no later than noon, should we be good getting into the entry mark for Sun Road with an hour to spare? The kayak rental place is on Apgar Loop Rd directly south of Lake McDonald. Is it a long line to get in during the timed entries, or is it a pretty quick process?

Entry is busiest at the front end of each time slot and might take 30 minutes to get in. Apgar is right at the entrance so you should be fine wrapping up by noon and getting in before 1. You have to enter during your time slot; you can't go later. You dont need an entry after 3 and it is daylight til after 9 there in the summer.

If you have time and can make the logistics work, Bowman would be my choice. I've been to Glacier three times and will return one more to canoe Bowman and do two more hikes.

Starting Saturday, June 14, vehicles can travel from St. Mary to Logan Pass on the east side of Going-to-the-Sun Road. Then on Monday, June 16, the full stretch from West Glacier to Logan Pass opens for the season.
