I'm looking at flights to Vegas from Houston for the end of December later this year and the prices seem extremely high. I looked on Spirit's website and they are saying it would be $700+ per person for leaving day after Christmas and returning a couple days before New Year's. I took the exact same trip(same days) in 2017 and was able to get flight and hotel for about $700 TOTAL for the wife and I. Am I missing something that would make the prices double for 2018??

Why are you looking at spirit? United has them for $435

Was just using Spirit as an example. Even at $435 per person on United is still more than I paid in total for the same trip last year....

Still a ridiculously high amount for a Vegas flight

That's what I was thinking. Unless they've added an event in the past year between Christmas and New Years, I don't know why prices would be that high...

Fuel prices are a little up.

When did you book the trip last year?

Didn't book until September/October. Maybe that's my problem along with the higher fuel prices...

I only fly Southwest unless my destination is not serviced by them.
