From what I gather, the worst of it is obviously in Cairo, but it is a cultural thing so its everywhere.

I can’t help it - but this description made me chuckle.

I too think people cross a line when they try and kidnap my daughter. Those fellas have a lot of growing up to do. Ridiculous.

It's mostly a tourist thing... where tourists gather hawkers and beggars are there too. Visit a bustling market in a non-tourist town along the Nile and all you get is stares but no hassle.

Some of it is cultural, Egyptians locals have been selling junk to tourists for 1000's of years.
