Daytona beach area suggestions.

Pardon my ignorance. Haven’t been there in yrs. Will be taking my 17yr old son and about 4 of his friends. Planning on 2nd or 3rd wk of July.
My thinking is there is a lot more to do there for young men there age, Boardwalk etc. Any suggestions on places to stay, maybe by the boardwalk is what I was thinking.
But like I said haven’t been there yrs. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
We normally stay close to St Augustine mainly around Crescent Beach. Just what to do something different this yr.
