i'll be in nashville 03/15-17 for a concert at the ryman on friday night, looking for an outdoor activity saturday morning/afternoon. looking thru alltrails theres tons of options within an hour or so...wondering if anyone here has a good suggestion for a 5-6 mile moderate hike or so with maybe a waterfall, great view, etc

i dont mind driving out of town for a little ways

thx!

No waterfalls around here. If you wanted to drive a couple of hours Fall Creek Falls State Park is amazing. The plateau around Monteagle has some waterfalls that are really nice and great hiking. Foster Falls for one. If you do MeetUp there is a Nashville hiking MeetUp group that has a lot of members and does a lot of scheduled hikes.

Some of my favorite hikes within 30 minutes or so include:

Radnor Lake
Beaman Park
Multiple trails in the Warner Park system

Fiery Gizzard is one of the better trails I have done in the Southeast.

Radnor Lake can get quite crowded so get there early if you go there but it's very close to downtown. Beaman Park is about 20 minutes from downtown Nashville and it's on the boundary of Davidson county. It's rarely crowded and actually my favorite for hiking this time of year. The Warner Parks (Edwin and Percy) are huge and there's always a place to park and hike so you wouldn't feel crowded there. There's a nice trail head near shelter 9 in the back of the park that has a trail along the Harpeth River and a Greenway that goes for miles which is great for biking.

Smith Park in Brentwood is about 30 minutes from downtown and rarely crowded as well. Over 400 acres and can be quite hilly. But very nice trails as well!

Want a really cool experience and willing to drive about 45 minutes? Look up Hidden Lake Park on the Harpeth River as you drive on the interstate towards Memphis. Really cool. LINK

I love Fiery Gizzard too. Up to 12 miles of some pretty strenuous hiking on certain parts of the trail. Probably would take the OP 2 hours to actually get there though so I'm not sure if that's in scope or not.
