Just booked a cruise out of Miami late May. Will be flying into FLL late the day before and will likely Uber down to Miami, crash, then board ship.

After ship returns we are flying out of FLL the next morning.

Looking for ideas of things to do in Miami or FLL for a day, and a decent hotel for that night. Will be me, wife, and two teenage girls.

Personally, I prefer to stay in FLL and drive into Miami the day the cruise sets sail. We normally stay at The Riverside Hotel and enjoy all that the Los Olas area provides and roughly a mile or so from the beach.

We rent a car from FLL (Budget) then drop it off the next day in Miami and they offer shuttle that will bring you to the cruise pier for free.

Coming back, we just Uber from the cruise terminal to FLL.

I recommend being as close the cruise terminal as you can get in case there’s traffic on the way from FLL. You’ll want as little stress as possible on embarkation day.

I’ve flown into FLL pre-cruise several times and stayed in Miami. South Beach, Brickell, Coconut Grove and Coral Gables are all perfect for grabbing a decent hotel with restaurants/activities nearby.

This. Except I would replace South Beach if you are bringing family and probably do Wynwood or even downtown (Bayside area).

BTW, Miami > FLL nightlife and by a mile.
