Have done this trip a few times...
Walk through the Macy's...amazing how big it is. Also wooden escalators which threw me off.
I believe Union Square has a big market too , look into that. It was Bryant on steroids. You can Ice Skate at Bryant much easier thank Rockefeller too.
Even if you don't want to shop, check the big store fronts.
Try to get hot choc at Serendipity 3
