Cartegena, Colombia...Anyone ever been?

The wife and I decided to mix it up a bit and will be going there for a four days in December. I've read that the tourism industry in Colombia has really upped it's game and the government has subsequently cracked down on crime. For those who may be familiar with the city, we'll be staying in the "walled city" area.
TIA
TIA

Yeah, it's a good time. Colombia is far too beautiful of a country to stay in Cartagena for more than 2-3 days IMO
Also, you'll want to date Colombian women after going there

Very true. It's better to go as a single man.
I think Cartagena is great if you like the beach. You won't regret the diving. 4 days there alone won't be enough to experience Colombia though.

We were there last thanksgiving and enjoyed it. Loved the food. Took a day trip out to one of the islands. Walked around the old city and Getsemani.
Beware, it's HOT there. Absolutely balls hot with awful humidity, and I've lived in the Gulf south my whole life. We were in this boutique hotel that had a pool on the roof, so every afternoon we took advantage and cooled off in the pool. Really made for a relaxing trip.
I also recommend trying for a day trip to Medellin or Bogota. We had flights scheduled, out early AM to Bogota and back late evening, but Avianca had a strike the screwed with their schedule.

Everyone posting before me is pretty spot on.
Cartagena is hot and humid AF. Makes the Gulf coast look weak.
Colombian women are absolutely top tier, but also a huge pain in the arse (I’m dating one).
A trip to Colombia really should include Bogota, Medellin or Cali, and Cartagena. Villa de Leyva is also amazing.
Cartagena is easily the safest place in Colombia, especially if you’re in the touristy places. Only problems I had were people hassling you / trying to scam you / children bothering you for money / people coming up to you on beach trying to sell you shite.
If you’re staying in the Walled City area, that’s a nice place and you shouldn’t really worry about anything. Tons of little shops and stuff around there. Took my girl on a carriage ride through that area and she loved it.
You will see TONS of other tourists / vacationers there. I saw so many people from Argentina, Brazil, Spain, France, and America there.
You’ll have a great trip and be perfectly safe.

My buddy from Colombia says the coffee region is the best part of Colombia. Not sure how that is possible -- Ive been to the coast (Cartagena), top of the Andes, and then deep in the Amazon. fricking georgous country.
Dating an Ecuadorian chick now. Ecuador is just as beautiful as Colombia. Need tips on dealing with latinas

So if you all had five days in Columbia, how would you spend it?

Not nearly enough time man. Cartagena you need 2-3 days. Traveling to another city like Bogota, Medellin, or Cali would take another dayish in total. I'd just pick one city and stick with it.

Random bump, but we are looking at Cartagena for one of my buddies bachelor party. Would y’all recommend it for a bachelor party destination? How expensive is the town?
