I am flying out to visit family with my girlfriend for Christmas and she wants to bring some cookies, fudge, etc. Is that allowed?

Yes, as long as they’re solid, not liquid. They can’t be gift wrapped, either. I’ve flown numerous times with entire loaves of bread and encountered no problems.

Just make sure you don't eat the Pot brownies while on the flight

Depending on the TSA agent, particular airport, and perceived threat level, you might encounter problems with cream fillings. No, seriously. Some won’t look twice, others will deem it a liquid. Of course, if it is a cream filled doughnut purchased after security, you shouldn’t have any problems. Some consider jelly a solid, others will make you toss or put into checked baggage.
I say this as a person who has been required to unwrap and lift the bread on a sandwich in my handbag. You never know what’s gonna trigger the additional screening. A literal butter knife, still in sealed packaging, got me pulled at LGA early last year. It wasn’t too long, or sharp...TSA decided that it was “too serrated”.

I live in Europe part time, and I'm back for he holidays. Came with macarons, baguettes, and croissants.
On my way back I plan on taking boudin, andouille, and a huge amount of dried assorted chile peppers
I don't even pack clothes since I have enough in both places. All food baby!

I could actually see those being dangerous

And you know the TSA guys were all high-fiving in the break room after that find.

girlfriend baked a loaf of zucchini bread for me to take and wrapped it in aluminum foil before putting it in my carry-on. Needless to say it was flagged and tested for looking like a brick of china white.
