Headed to boston tomorrow. Staying thru sunday. Going to Bruins and Pats games. Staying downtown. Anyone have some good recommendations in the North End area and Harvard/Cambridge ares for food/drinks. Seems to be a ton of options by searching the internet. Thanks for the input

North End for drinks: Parla does great cocktails, the rest is your standard wine and beer.

North end for food: giacomos if our don’t mind a huge line, Tresca is fantastic, limoncello is alright, and Neptune oyster house for a lobster roll but go for lunch and prepare for a wait.

For Cambridge, it would be helpful if you gave more details on what you want to eat, budget, etc, because there’s a much wider variety there.

I’ve lived here 4+ years so feel free to ask about anything throughout the weekend. Happy to help.

Edit: before you go to TD Garden, grab a drink at Ward 8. Right next door and great cocktails

I have a feeling you’re underestimating how cold it’s going to be this weekend....

You’re never going to see my arse standing in line for over an hour for Giacomos in late December.

We are actually staying in back Bay Area. I’m guessing there will be bars a plenty around there. We are looking for pubs/ beer options more than anything in Cambridge / back bay areas

Actually, the back bay isn’t going to be your spot for good pubs and beer places. Back Bay is more where the upscale shopping is, and with that comes nicer restaurants and such.

If you’re looking for an Irish pub or place with a solid craft beer list, you’re going to have to venture out of the Back Bay. If you just want to find a place to watch the games and don’t care where you do it, you can go to McAllisters. But that place is meh at best, but it’s in the back bay.

I second what Abitafan said. We stayed in the Back Bay Area when we visited in the summer, and there’s not much going on there besides fancy. We ventured away from back bay for nearly every meal we had. The only place we ate around there was The Parish Cafe. I enjoyed it as the food was really good and they had a pretty solid beer list (both draft and bottle). It was expensive and packed, though.
