Only going to be in Louisville for 1 afternoon and looking to visit one of the local distilleries. I do not think we will have time to drive out to buffalo trace or any of the other further out ones.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

I don't have actual, first-hand experience but I have started to prepare for a trip to the area in the next year so keept that in mind when reading my post. I certainly will defer to anyone who has actually set foot in the distilleries. However, of the ones on Whiskey Row in Louisville, I feel like Angel's Envy would be the best. IIRC, their entire production facility is there unlike most who just have some of their operations. That way you get the full bang for your buck with a tour.
After that, I hear the Evan Williams Experience is the best for people who might not be huge whiskey fans if that makes sense. My top three would round out with Old Forrester. Their line is severely underrated and I read good.things about their tour. FYI, the Louisville Slugger museum is there nearby as well as the Mohammed Ali Museum. Check out google maps and.uii can see the whole area looks to be hopping with stuff to see and do.

I would put Old Forrester at the top of the list for in town distilleries, they have the history/pedigree to make it interesting, a nice bourbon selection in the gift shop, and they fire barrels in the facility which is something nobody else does. Michters is also downtown and often has some stuff on the shelf that you can’t easily find elsewhere. Bulliet is in town and outside of downtown if you want to see a larger operation.
Slugger museum is awesome and Churchill Downs has a great museum at the track that is worth your time regardless of interest in horse racing.

If you go to Angel's Envy, there is a BBQ restaurant across the street inside the ballpark that is really great. Another one that it's that far from there and right across the street from Louisville Slugger is Michter's. I would say it was probably one of the best rye I have had in while.
