Planning my trip to Switzerland in June. There is a day trip to Bern from our hotel in Grendelwald. The guys are thinking about just letting the wives go to Bern. Is there much to see and do in Bern?

Mainly walk around and shop. Look at the cool tower clocks and monuments. Look at the bears. Play chess on the giant board by the river.

We did a day trip to Gruyère from Lucerne. We stopped and rode the tram through town to see the bears. Tons of shops if that’s your thing, but IMO, there are much better ways to spend your time in Switzerland. A 30 min stop over if you’re in the area seemed perfect. But I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there.

Enjoy your trip. Switzerland is absolutely amazing!!!

We stopped to take a look at Bern on the way from Zermatt to Interlaken. There is not a lot to go out of your way to see there. It is a business and commercial town rather than a tourist destination.

There is a cathedral and a park overlooking the river. The 15 th century clock was considered an engineering marvel in its time.
When I was there you used to be able to see the bears in the bear pits.
