My fiancée and I are driving to Houston and stopping midway, we planned on staying the night in Baton Rouge, since I have a free night at a Hyatt place I figure we should stay there. Anyone have an opinion on the hotel/is the area fine?

It know it probably is a stupid question but my fiancée worries about these things and I want to be able to give an educated answer

The area is fine. Although there isn’t much near it that is convenient for breakfast/coffee besides a BK and a gas station. It’s across street from the mall.

Good area, Mall is across the street (as well as Red Lobster, so make reservations early). If looking for place to eat, a mile or so south on Bluebonnet (actually on Perkins, but 100 yards off Bluebonnet corner) is Louisiana Lagniappe, great place to eat.

I live near that area and it’s fine.

Don’t settle for the immediately located restaurants near the mall, drive more than a 1/4 quarter of a mile to get good food.

Agreed, the Hyatt by the mall is very nice for the money. I stay there a lot when I go to BR for work and no complaints.

Perkins Rowe is right down the street. Lots of good commercial/franchise places like California Pizza Kitchen, Kona Grill, Texas De Brazil, some mexican place, and a few other spots. They also have a fair amount of shopping.

If you want some local food check out Louisiana Lagniappe across Perkins Road from Perkins Rowe or head a little further to Parrians.
