Looking to go the first week of June. Is there anyone that's been this early in the season that can tell me how it is? Have the lakes completely thawed enough to give them the blue color they are known for, and how are the trails this early in the summer season?

Wife and I went 5 or so years ago. Weather can be hit or miss in early June. We got a couple days of perfect weather and a couple days of 38 degrees and rainy. There is plenty to do even though many of the trails still have snow. Bow river valley is beautiful and took the gondola up to the peak and looked over the area. The drive up from Calgary is really cool once you hit the mountains. Different than the Rockies in Colorado. View of the peaks from downtown Banff is spectacular. Bow river was raging due to the rainfall and snowmelt.

Lake Louise was full, only a Couple small chunks of ice. To this day it is the most beautiful place I have ever visited. Was looking forward to Moraine Lake but when we got up there it was about half full. Obviously it hadn't filled from the snow melt yet.

i am glad we did it but expect a mixed bag with the weather.
