Olivier House is quaint and relatively inexpensive.

I usually like to stay at the Hotel Mazarin...nice place in a good location with free breakfast, etc.

fwiw, be sure to take parking prices into account when staying in the quarter, as they can sometimes be nearly as much as the cost of the room...

We have used the Secret Hotel on Hotwire.com and been extremely pleased. You just choose how many stars of a hotel you want and what area. The cost was about 1/2 if I remember correctly and we've stayed at the W and La Pavillion.

You don't know what hotel it will be until you pay, but you can't go wrong with a 4 or 5 star, in my opinion.

That makes two of us. Staying at the JW Marriott, reception at the Chicory Saturday night. Reserved room at Barcadia Friday night, going to Mr Ed's Seafood House Thursday night.

The overview doc from the bride and groom gave some recommendations, which may or may not be worthwhile. Thoughts? Neither bride nor groom is from New Orleans.

Just got back last night. What an awesome time. I loved the character and history of the city. Weather was fantastic, tons of stuff to see, great food pretty easy to navigate.

Hit Bourbon street a decent amount, but really liked the other areas of the French Quarter and warehouse district better.

Couple highlights and places we hit...Mr. Eds seafood (decent dinner), Barcadia (party the night before the wedding), the Chicory (where the wedding and reception were, great venue), Cochon for dinner (fantastic, highly recommend), Cafe du Monde for beignets and to check out the Cathedral, that was a really cool. The wedding had a second line parade that went over to Poydras and back around, which was really cool and should be a tradition everywhere. Music was great. Went for a run along the river to see a bit more of the French Quarter. Hit too many places on Bourbon to remember. They all felt very similar and all were a little stinky and sticky.

But all in all a super fun weekend.

Never felt threatened, but also didn't venture too far in any one direction.

Would have liked to get to the Garden District, and would have really liked to get to the WWII museum. But I guess that means I just need to go back.
