I skied the Alps in Austria a few years back. It was amazing. Definitely more raw but it was great. I thought their blues were more like blacks but we enjoyed it. It's gorgeous.

Where did you go in Austria? I went to Mayrhofen in March and plan to go to Ischgl in January.

We went to Sölden in South Tyrol. It was great. Wife's father paid for the whole thing so I wish I had a better idea of the $$ of the trip.
It's the base ski camp for USA when they have competitions in Europe. I remember a few weeks after we left there was a story that two young Americans on team USA had died in an avalanche. Crazy stuff. I remember that the whole back side of the mountain was closed when I went and that's where they were skiing.
