So, apparently a recent Windows update added the option (and fricking toggled it on by default...) to "abbreviate" the date and time you normally find on the bottom right of your start bar. If you like it, godspeed. If you're like me and found it to be somewhere between disgusting and "what the frick is wrong with my system is my resolution rendering partly offscreen what the frick..."

Right click the date/time display > adjust date and time > click the down facing "expand" arrow for "show time and date in the System tray" > uncheck "show abbreviated date and time".

Or if you're more visually inclined, follow this page which I came across in a quick search trying to figure out how this abomination had occurred in the first place

How to Get the Full Date and Time View Back on the Windows 11 Taskbar

Windows is Spyware disguised as an Operating System.

And the day someone puts out an operating system with full gaming compatibility, I’ll switch to it. Until then, is what it is

Y'all understand that this is why people hate tech nerds, right? And I say that as a tech nerd

A real 'tech nerd' would have a dedicated gaming system running Windows, and Linux running on everything else

I would if the home lab side of things was my hobby; it isn't. Hell, while gaming is my primary PC hobby, building PCs is more of a hobby of mine than tinkering with an OS

Some of the Linux distros require less tinkering than you might think.

Made the switch to Linux Mint about a year ago and it's been really solid and reliable. It just works.
