I have 3 lines with AT&T, with 2 of the lines having a year or so left on the NEXT plan. If I’m not on WiFi I get little to no service at my house, so I’d like to switch to Verizon. Anyone had any luck getting them to buy what you’d owe to at&t?

I made the swap about 8 months ago so keep in mind things could've changed since then.

At the time, no, they did not pay off or buy you out the devices you still "owed on" with att. The only thing they they did was give me a 100 dollar credit to my bill, PER each line that i swapped from att to them. I swapped 2 line, so i got a 200 dollar credit applied to my bill.
About 2-4 weeks later, I was mailed a "FINAL" bill from att. It contained the service charges up to the date I made the switch and the amount that i owed on both devices i had with them on their next plan.

The only thing i am curious about is if you only have roughly a year left that you owe on the two devices. Those two should be close to, if not already eligible for a "trade in". I wonder if att would allow you to send the devices back without "trading in" and them wipe the debt owed on the two devices.

Right now any relatively new phone (last 4-5 years) is worth $700 off a new phone + $300 in bill credits whether the phone is broken or not.

So they won’t pay off your old phone, but they will give you $1000 on your verizon bill to help you switch.
