WiFi issue. 5GHz is fast, but 2.4GHz is slow.

Running 1 GIG internet w/Nighthawk router.

Only 1 device connected at the moment.

When connected to my 5GHz connection, im getting DL speeds on average 408Mbps, at most 650Mbps...Cool

But when connected to the 2.4GHz band, my DL speed is at the most 45Mbps.

Any reason why this could be happening?

That is normal, there is a lot more to the speeds then a simplified statement, but this is generally true.

2.4Ghz longer range, slower speeds
5Ghz shorter range, higher speeds

This recently started happening to me with a Nighthawk as well.

2.4Ghz band has had a huge dip in performance recently, can literally watch ads on the side of the page load about 1/4 at a time. Phone shows that it's 192Mbps but clearly it is not, speed tests are showing ~1Mbps.

I am thinking the latest firmware has caused issues.

I know 2.4 is a longer range, but my speed has never been this low.

I used to average about 100+ down

There are a lot of variable at play especially in the 2.4Ghz spectrum.

I'm sure you have tried rebooting etc...

New Devices or your neighbors new devices can also cause some issues.

I have a nighthawk also. After the last update it started acting up slow speed dropping 5ghz. I ended Up going back to a way older software down load and it’s back to working fine
