Where can I get rid of old, used electronics?

iPhone 4, Chinese no name brand tablet, 2009 MacBook.

All in fair to bad condition.

Bonus points if you can find somewhere that will give any money for them. Not completely necessary though.

Do you live somewhere that holds electronic recycling events? I live in DFW and pretty much every city in the metroplex has an event like this, usually monthly.

Best Buy has taken old printers, DirecTv boxes, etc. from me, but they (according to the counter employee) charge a fee for monitors, TVs, or anything with a big screen. Those go in an apartment dumpster.

The items that are being collected contain recyclable material, but can also be hazardous if disposed of with regular garbage.

Accepted electronic items include:

Desktop computers, monitors, LCDs, LEDs, servers, hard drives, mouse devices, computer accessories, gaming consoles, audio-visual equipment, network equipment, projectors, routers, hubs, printers, fax machines, keyboards and photocopiers
TVs, VCRs, DVD players, CD players, stereo equipment
Home, office, and mobile phones
Laptops, tablets and PDAs
Laptop batteries, UPS batteries, and lithium batteries
Cables, wires, circuit boards, memory chips, and plugs/connectors
Other related consumer electronics.

Items that are not accepted include smoke detectors, fire alarms, dehumidifiers, large appliances (refrigerators), medical equipment, and items containing sludge or liquids.

Staples will take them and I think give you store credits.

In Austin, we have a recycling facility where I take used batteries too after I collected a bunch. There may be something similar near you.

Cacrc if in baton rouge. They'll break down the components to be recycled provided the device has no value
