I listing some stuff for sale and the website will let you simply type text, or import your own html code. Any suggestions on an editor I can use online that will spit me out some code to copy and past over to the other website? Or is there a simpler way of doing this that I am not thinking of? TIA.

Google docs (online option) and microsoft word will let you save a document as a html file

Maybe try htmltidy.net
I use it all the time to clean up content sent to me in Word docs. You can copy content to the left window and it will clean up the code, which you can see in the right window. Learn what every control does, and you'll see that it's pretty functional.
