So, I bought a 70” Vizio during the Black Fridays sales. $498 + Tax.

Get home and unbox the thing and both sides have this sort of hue on the edge. See picture attached. It’s driving me crazy, but my wife thinks I’m nuts for it bothering me, especially for a $500 TV.

Anyone have one of these? Normal or an outlier or what you get for the price you paid? Thing was a pain to get out and setup.

Noticeable on Dark Colors

Found this

the blue tint is caused from failing leds in the backlight, the yellow phosphor on the front of the bulb crumbles off and emits a bluish purple tint, tell tale sign is a bluish purple vizio logo when first starting if you see this your leds are failing

Also what color temp setting are you running, vivid, normal, etc?
Is there a setting on the tv to change from 120hz to 60hz and does it appear when on 60hz?

eta. Alot of people are saying check the HDMI cables and cycle the tv for 5 minutes.

Check this site to, it has a live chat

On Vizio I wouldn't go below the M-series. Obviously for 500.00 bucks a 70 inch V-series is a good deal. Better cheap Vizio than a cheap Chinese Brand.

4 of my 7 Tvs are Vizio M or P series.

If it bothers you I would exchange it for another then you would know whether it's an outlier or just something to deal with at that price point.

The inconvenience of returning it and a resetting it up will be worth it if you can have a 70" panel that you are happy with.

It's an edge lit TV. They will almost all have that bright band around the edge as a result. Newer TVs have gotten better at it but it's still not perfect.

You can try using Cinema or Cinema Dark mode and it might be less noticeable, if you're not already in one of those settings.

Good info in here guys! Appreciate the insight. Gonna play with it and determine on taking back or not. Of course the only store in town with them was quite a way away.

JoeHackett, I’d watch an edge lit 70” version of your avatar image any day of the week and not complain one bit.

You got a good deal on that TV so it's going to be hard to do any better for $500.

This might sound like a crazy suggestion but you can also get LED lights that attach to the back of the TV. They are mainly used to help with eye fatigue but they could also help make the band a little less noticeable.
