Using adb push to an Amazon Firestick... problems

I'm trying to get sportsdevil.zip onto my Firestick, so am attempting to adb push that file to the device's /dcard/Download folder.
The device is definitely connected, but unfortunately adb returns an error that says "can't push file, read-only file system".
Drats.
How did any of you install sportsdevil to your Firestick?

You have to go into the settings on the Fire Stick and set debugging to on. There's several tutorials out there.

It's already set to on.
adb install works fine. adb push does not.

Not sure if you figured it out yet or not but try a different cable. One command may work with one cable but not another in rare cases.
Also try to adb chmod the permissions of the directory you are working in. Just Google chmod write permissions.

Have you installed any other apk's? I just finished installing showbox instead of going through kodi through adb and it worked like a charm. Mac or PC?

Google a program called Fire TV Utility, by far the easiest way to send anything to your Fire TV. It should be a link to XDA fairly high in the search results.

Yes. adb install of apk's work fine. adb push, however, gives me that read only file system error.

The Firestick doesn't have an ethernet or usb port, so no cable. It has to be accessed wirelessly.
Thanks for the chmod suggestion. Will see if that helps in any way.
