Thinkpad T14 vs the X1 Carbon

Looking at getting a new Thinkpad (about 5 years since my last purchase) and I'm debating between the two models. Does anyone have any insight on the two models? I prefer a beefier, heavier laptop, is one better than the other in terms of build quality?

rolled about 150 T14's last year and a few dozen X1s. X1 build quality is markedly better than the T14. T14 is your tough and dependable daily driver. X1 is a Mercedes with premium package - and priced accordingly. T14 is a high quality, great value machine. the X1 is just 'nicer', lighter, sleeker and a better LCD.
this amazon seller is great. and for this price...you aren't getting an equivalent X1.

Personally I'd get a new MacBook Air for a good in-between if you can stomach Apple.
