Tell me what I need to set up a monitor..

I have a recent model Lenovo lap top that I need to get a monitor for. I just started working on something new for work and I'm constantly switching between different windows on my laptop. I need a monitor that can show one window while I am inputting data in another window. I'm working on Excel type stuff.
What do I need to do to make this happen?

Check what ports your laptop has. Most of the time they'll have an HDMI and you can use an HDMI cable to connect to the monitor. That's it, just plug the monitor in the laptop and you'll have the extra screen space you need.

This is something that's extremely simple to do. Any monitor will function as an extended desktop.
