TCL 4 Series Gaming Question

I have a TCL 4 series that I got 2 years ago. It says 4k uhd, etc, but I was looking at getting a new xbox, and was curious with this TV, will the series X or S really look different? I'm unsure what the actual refresh rate is on the model, but I'm guessing if it's not 120 refresh rate, the visuals won't be much different for me if I get the series S. Is this line of thinking correct?

Get a Series X. Your TV can handle it. Just make sure you get a HDMI cable capable of 4K and plug it into the right port.
Refresh rate doesn't really matter for video games.

I had to upgrade the TCL 4 series. The tv isn't very bright with HDR imo and it became a real headache.

This is not good advice.

Did you read your article? Cause nowhere does it come close to saying "refresh rate doesn't matter for video games" and this is how the article concludes:

So are fast refresh rate gaming monitors worth it? Absolutely. If you play fast-paced, competitive games, the responsive feel of a 100Hz+ monitor with a sub 4ms response time is undeniable and can bring a real competitive advantage.
