Tablet Advice for Boating

Looking for recommendations for a tablet that I can use to navigate on the boat. Most will work fine... but really need something that:
- is easy to read in sunlight.
- has gps without requiring a cellular carrier.
- has a pretty decent battery life.
Any suggestions?

Would not recommend for your primary.
What kind of boat and what bodies of water?

I dont think youre gonna find one for the sun unless you have a top on your boat.

Sailboat for Pontchartrain, maybe some coastal cruising.
Would like a good touchscreen and have seen some tablets claim to be easier to read in the sun (Galaxy Tab Active). May just go with a plotter, but kind of need to replace my existing tablet.

I guess I'd find one that has the brightest screen you can find, but overall, sunlight is going to be rough. GPS doesn't require internet. For maps to show where you are you'd want to pre-download/cache the maps of the areas you plan to be in. You can always hotspot your phone. Most tablets have good battery life, at least compared to a phone. They're way bigger than phones and thus have way bigger batteries. If you're out in the sun you're probably going to have to put brightness on max, which will lower your battery life though. If your boat has a cigarette lighter plug you can get a charger for that too.
