Well, to be honest, you have been. But now you've joined the big boys club.

It’s soooo clean literally no distortion. I have had it turned up a little too much just because. Watched most of predator during lunch and the action scenes are literally shaking the whole house.

And it is “big” my wife almost freaked out on me over it but it’s by the fireplace in a dead spot so it really doesn’t matter.

Congrats man. I feel like a good sub is like going from 720 to 4k on a TV... the 720 looks great, but only because you didn't know how good it COULD look. And i say this knowing my sub isn't a fraction what you just installed.

ETA... those movies where you don't so much hear the low end, but you feel it... so cool.

I would almost say SD to 4k...maybe even B&W SD to 4k HDR.

It definitely has added a whole new dimension of depth to everything. Crazy thing about it is it even sounds good a low volumes. I watched Bohemian Rhapsody last night and its just amazing. I dont know how describe it. Just brings everything to a new level of definition. Lows extension is amazing, mid bass is great, low volume/high volume just sounds great and clear.

Just waiting on the cushion to be made for the top so it looks like a sofa bench...not 4 18s

That's beautiful but...how do you experiment with proer placement in the room which is one of the most important aspects of using a subwoofer(s).

I can’t...I was very limited in this room with its layout and the entertainment center along the front wall. So placing them near field takes out a lot of room modes for best possible sound. I don’t get any room gain but don’t need it. It won’t be perfect but it’s good enough.

I plan to use REW and a mini dsp to tune it as best as possible. IF I need I have the two front corners in the cabinet I can fit another 18 in each. Warned the wife already. I’d make the cabinet doors out of screen material. But I don’t think I’ll need it...it really sounds good so far on the sofa but I haven’t ran a frequency sweep to see how it looks.

I had some other ported 15 subs in there before that I fooled around with

Svs are some sold subs. I have some old cylinders in my garage that used to be in the HT. I’m also using there wireless solution for my current setup....since the electricians screwed me by not running conduit like I asked in the slab.

Your setup of 4 x 18 is crazy. What kind of wattage are you driving each with?

I have the SVS PB 3000: a 13" long-excursion driver powered by a 750 watt internal amp (a slightly older version of what is on the website now) and this thing rocks. The wife does not fully appreciate what this sub does for our listening experience (movies and Pandora) and she thinks it is ugly/tacky and wants to get rid of it when we upgrade our TV and furniture situation. Wife has some learnin' to do.

Strongly recommend SVS subs to the OP and lurkers. Have been aware of the great quality of HSU subs as well, but have never heard them in person.

It’s at least 4,000 watts. I’m running a speaker power sp1-4000 that does 4kw at 2 ohms. These speakers are wired at about 1ohm (1.2 with my DMM). Using its own 20 amp circuit. The Christmas’s tree used to plug into this same circuit....not anymore

Ms GT doesn’t love the volume it achieves but tolerates it for the most part. Unless I’m listening to my kind of music at high volumes (bass mekanic type of stuff). She knew it when she married me tho. It had to look “pretty” for her...had to sound good for me. This system and entertainment center is 6yr in the making. Cushions the last part.

OP is certainly sounding happy with his purchase, as he should be. HSU makes great shite.

I have the SVS PB16 Ultra. If you try one of those videos where it goes through the Hertz range, you'll be amazed how different things vibrate at different hertz.

It does. I have gone through a few different genres to see how it handles it. It’s like a concert in my den lol.

That’s the best part OP is to run different songs and see how it differs. Some bass hits you in the chest...some hits bottom (da brown note)
