Security camera success story

I have a few wireless Blink cameras. While out of town, got a motion notification from my front camera. Checked the camera footage and watched some teenager (with a half-arse attempt to cover his face) walk to my front door, grabbed the package sitting there, and walked off.
I snapped a couple of pictures, posted them on social media (Nextdoor, FB, etc) with a message stating that I wouldn’t call the Sherriff’s office if he returned it within 24 hours. Within 6 hours, I get a message from the kid’s mom that it was her kid and he’ll be returning the package shortly.
If you’re considering whether or not to get a camera system, do it. It only saved me from losing a couple of USB outlets this time, but could have been something bigger.

Good job on that driveway edge.

While I’m very much about personal accountability, theft of a USPS parcel is technically a felony (and hiding your face from a camera with a lookout indicates premeditation). I’m not trying to wreck some kids life over a stupid teenage decision. He knew it was a dumb thing to do and owned up to it. I’ll give him a pass this time.

You're a nicer guy than I am. He's a kid so it's not like he would get hit with a felony. Him covering his face and having someone lookout means he has probably done this quite a bit and probably deserved a few days in juvy.
