I've got a problem with this TV. It's only a few years old. A while back, maybe about 6 months ago, it started acting up when I tried to turn it on. Initially, no sound or picture. Second attempt, it would go through some gyrations, turning itself off and on, then the sound would work but still no picture. Third attempt, sound and picture, and everything was lovey-dovey.
It took about five minutes total, so it was a pain in the arse, but not a big enough pain to make me go buy a new TV.
Now, I'm having to turn it off and on 20 or 30 (or 40 or 50, I'm not keeping count) times and it takes about a half hour for it to unfrick itself or me to lose my patience. Is this thing garbage or does anyone repair TVs anymore?
ETA: I'm a bit of a Luddite. I don't have cable or satellite and didn't have a TV until someone gave it to me (because they have more money than patience and at their advanced age didn't really have five minutes to waste every time they turned on the TV.) I only turn this thing on a couple of nights a week to watch a DVD from the library. But it would be nice to actually have sound and a picture when I turn it on. Thanks for any helpful suggestions any of you can offer.

Quick Google leads me to believe that TV was purchased around 2008. Which is basically when Samsung manufactured the TVs to fail.
Due to the massive amount of failures Samsung was forced to extend the warranties on the TVs from that time period. However I think that was only extended 5 years.
Basically Samsung put cheap caps on the power boards for these TVs and they fail over time. You could Google the repair yourself if you have some soldiering skills or try to find a new power board.
However the power board might be over 100 dollars at that point I would just buy a replacement from someone like TCL

Thanks for the reply. I can solder, but I probably won't get into the back of this thing. I didn't realize it was ~10 years old.

Experienced the same issue a year ago. Ordered replacement capacitors online for cheap & replaced the defective/bulging capacitors on the power board. Wasn't difficult & I'm not the most experienced person when it comes to soldering.

And now, I'm thinking about trying to repair it! Thanks for the response.
