Internet usage:
-Regular streaming on Fire TV and smart TV
-Occasional Kodi usage on Fire TV
-2 phones, 2 laptops, 2 tablets - rarely all used simultaneously
-Echo & PS4 usage also

I currently pay for 100mbps, but my shitty router spits out 10-15mbps consistently.

I was previously "borrowing" a friends router while he went overseas for a year, and that badass thing was spitting out 100+mbps consistently.

Anything around $100 or less that will get me back to those speeds?

TIA

Amazon

I have this router from Netgear; currently on sale for $69 (normally $100).

With Cox 300, I normally pull 250 down/30 up non-wired on the 5 Ghz band. As long as you have a good docsis 3.0 modem, you shouldn't have any issues pulling/exceeding your max bandwidth.

Nice thanks, I saw that one and was wondering if it was a good deal.

I'll second the Netgear 6700. I have it paired with an Arris Surfboard cable modem and my internet is rock solid.

Have you tried splitting 2.4ghz bands and 5ghz bands then putting each on a frequency that doesn't have much interference from other neighboring networks?

Is this a difficult process?

I'm not necessarily tech savvy, but pretty good at figuring things out.

Give me your current router make and model.

Usually it's a matter of a handful of drop-down menus. I'll read up and see if I can find a guide and if not try to walk you through it

Some can't do it at alto start without further help, Google "my router (but your make/model) set 2.4ghz channel"
Set the 2.4ghz to 20mHz band on 1, 6, or 11.

Set the 5ghz band to a width of 80. In a house, you likely can choose anything but can play around with it and speed test, speedtest, speed test until you find the fastest one

Probably easier than describing how to do a scan which your hardware may or may not support.

I just pulled the trigger on the router recommended above before the sale ran out. Thanks for the info though.

We'll see how this one works out.

Thanks for the recs on this router, I'm pulling 100+ immediately and sometimes in the 120's and 130's. It's amazing how much difference a good router makes.
