Do i really need the doorbell connected to 5.0 gHz channel? I'm not streaming a movie, just intermittent connectivity. Your thoughts/advice?

5ghz is not necessary for your doorbell. Do what is most stable in your situation, which very often might be 2.4ghz. Especially ones mounted outside. 2.4ghz struggles to go through brick and masonry, and 5ghz is even worse.

The AV closet isn't far from the front door, and the front porch area is hardiplank, so i should be good. Thanks.

I have my doorbell and my other Ring indoor camera connected to the same 2.4 Ghz channel. The 5 Ghz one was spotty, going through the brick. Ended up totally overhauling my connections in the house back in the spring. Added a Ubiquiti access point and they stay connected to that one. Almost everything else is wired in, so not a ton of Wifi interference. The only devices that run on WiFi now are the phones/tablets. I have both our laptops with a wired connection, as well as the TVs. No reason at all to use a 5 Ghz channel for a Ring doorbell.
