Less than $300. Totally worth it. 1TB SSD is the shite.
I have a WD blue that I've been happy with. I went the clone route. Took several hours to transfer the files, then all that was left to do was put the SSD in the laptop and put the old HD in a case to make 1TB USB storage.

I opened my laptop and I have two hard drive slots already. Can I just install the SSD into the empty slot and set it as default or something? Basically I can access them both?

Yeah I still plan on doing that and using it as my drive, but why can't I leave them both in?
What's the difference between taking the old HD out and putting it into an external housing to just leaving it in there?

Oh I must have misunderstood. You can for sure leave both in there. You'll need to delete the windows files off of the old HDD or you could have booting issues

I'm trying to figure this out. Windows 10 won't show the USB as a boot option. This will be a fun night

Did you download the windows boot tool or whatever it's called to create the USB as a bootable iso?
Bad weekend to ask for help since I'm getting hammered in Nola lol
